The honour code of Yoga
To walk the path of a sadhaka(to be commited to a spiritual path) requires discipline, here are the 10 honour codes of the spiritual path. Yoga has become a weight loss or physical fitness programme in many places, however this is not what we teach, although the physical aspects are manifold and awesome for your health, the true reason for Yoga is spiritual development, In the spirit of this we consider the tenets of the Yogic path:
Yam
five disciplines:
- Ahimsa
- non violence or not giving pain in thought speech or deed - Satya
- to be truthful and honest - Asteya
- not to get jealous or get affected by what others have - Aparigraha
- to only keep enough income to support you and your familys needs (no empire building /buying flashy cars etc) - Brahmacharya
- sexual discipline, mastering the bodys desire for sex.
Niyam

- Sauch
- cleanliness of the body, mind and soul - Santosh
- contentment with life , in every way and day - Tap
- To endure all pains and hurts bravely. To be unaffected and bear everything with peace - Swadhayay
- constant learning by introspection and meditation - Samarpan
- Doing everything that comes our way with complete presence and attention.
Note that if you are serious about spiritual growth you need to be serious about these principles, absorb them and live them- they come as friends and bring many blessings into your life, slowly as you observe them they will become second nature and you will begin to stop creating negative karma for yourself, and with the subsequent steps on the spiritual path.. you will cleanse karma, and create the right merit to attain an enlightened state.
