Ayurveda -Spirituality the Neglected Path

If you have read much of this site you will see that there are often references to activities not usually considered part of the healing domain, eg: Meditation, mantra, pranayam, yoga asanas etc, however in Ayurveda, it is recognised that the human being is not a machine but essentially a deeply spiritual being, and the further you go towards supressing the spiritual side of man, the greater the attrition to his health. of particular concern are the stress related illnesses, (hypertension, CFIDS, ADD,inability to focus or concentrate etc) and the lifestyle illnesses caused by poor lifestyle choices (diabetes, obesity, hypertension, heart disease.) essentially these can all be classified as a symptom of an aspiritual society- let me explain by comparison, if we were to compare the normal western lifestyle (high stress, loads of hormone/antibiotic injected meat products, high fat, high carb etc) to the lifestyle of a Yogi or buddhist monk its not hard to see which is healthier, (both Yogis and Buddhist monks tend to be vegetarian, and thats a part but not all i am getting at) Its just having a spiritually centered lifestyle as opposed to a mentality that persues wealth at all costs.. have you ever stopped to wonder why you need all that money/wealth- there is only so much you really need. To me this is madness and a total waste of time (persuit of riches)- there is nothing wrong with living comfortably, but im basically decrying excesses.

Ok so a spiritually centered way of life would be one that acknowledges your spiritual nature, Meditation is the most important component/favour you can do for yourself spiritually. Here is an excellent Document on Meditation – it comes from a combination of pure vedic and buddhist approaches MEDITATION GUIDELINES
